Things that have lifted my spirits this week:
- WATER. I have been drinking so much water!
- These constant strong winds we’ve been having here for the past couple of days. It sounds really pretty and soothing while you’re lying around inside, but when you go outside it wakes you up like a good, refreshing slap in the face.
- The book of Ecclesiastes. Particularly this: “So I recommend having fun, because there is nothing better for people in this world than to eat, drink, and enjoy life. That way they will experience some happiness along with all the hard work God gives them under the sun.” -Ecc. 8:15 (NLT)
- Finally deciding where I’m going to school next year! Appalachian State University: a beautiful school, in a beautiful town, in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina.
- Family and Something. My great uncle died fairly unexpectedly on Monday, which was obviously not a happy thing. But at his funeral, it was really nice to hear all these beautiful and interesting stories and things about his life that I had never known before. And it was encouraging to see how connected my extended family is, even though a lot of us live in different places and don’t get to see each other very often. It was nice to hug them and to look at them, and without saying anything, just know that we all understood something. The same something. And I think that Something, whatever it is, will keep us connected forever. I dunno. I’m just really happy with the family that I have. And life in general right now.
